Have you ever wondered what your workday would be like if you had all today's credit management products and services at your fingertip? Well you will have a chance to find out at NACM's Credit Congress in San Francisco this May.

In their ongoing effort to provide unique educational opportunities for its members, NACM is working with Michael Meerman, one of the industry's leading management experts who spent years as corporate credit executive, to live all Congress delegates the chance to "try on" a credit manager's role in a simulated office environment loaded with technological bells and whistles.

Michael Meerman gives readers of Business Credit a sneak preview of what they can expect as he talks with senior editor Joyce Ochs.

BC: Mike, what are you planning?

MM: NACM is always striving to present meaningful and progressive programs for credit managers. NACM's education department and I are partnering to develop a new offering for delegates that will showcase the credit department as a functional workplace using technological hardware, software, and services provided in the credit industry. Actually, we will have several simulated credit departments, each representing the credit function in a different size company. In other words, there will be something for everyone.

BC: How is this being integrated into the Credit Congress?

MM: NACM is devoting an entire day, Wednesday, to this program. The regular exhibit hall closes at the end of the day on Tuesday, and the exhibit hall space is being dedicated to the simulated "high tech" credit offices.

BC: How will it work?

MM: Volunteer practitioners will staff each simulated office and will serve as guides and hosts for each location. Delegates will be able to try things for themselves or watch a volunteer use the various products and services in a prototypical credit office. …
