Wetland protection

Three sites in Congo-Brazzaville have been granted protection under the Ramsar Treaty, established to conserve wetland biodiversity. Loubetsi-Nyanga, Leketi-Mbama and Tchikapika-Owando wetlands contain critically endangered species, such as the slender-snouted crocodile, and provide essential food and medicine for local people. The designations mean the Congo now has 13 Ramsar sites.

Transgender medical rights

Transgender people can expect a better standard of treatment from more than 10 million physicians. The World Medical Association, representing nearly 60 national medical associations, has introduced new guidelines which recognize that being transgender is not a disorder and explicitly reject forced behaviour modification or coercive treatments such as genital removal surgery and sterilization. …
