Los Angeles Critics Love 'Mad Max', 'Spotlight'

"Mad Max: Fury Road" continued winning critical love, as the Los Angeles Film Critics Assn, recognized George Miller as best director, and awarded it cinematography and production design nods. But the group's best picture prize went to "Spotlight," which also won best screenplay. Acting honors went to Michael Fassbender ("Steve Jobs"), Charlotte Rampling ("45 Years"), Michael Shannon ("99 Homes") and Alicia Vikander ("Ex Machina"). The group's New York counterparts fell hard for Todd Hayne's "Carol," giving it four prizes, including best film and director.

Dauman Rebuts Redstone Health Speculation

Viacom chief executive Philippe Dauman has responded to recent coverage of company executive chairman Sumner Redstone's health, telling attendees at a Dec. 7 investor conference that the mogul has "an incredible will to live and enjoyment of life," despite some physical disabilities. Investor speculation has bubbled around the company in recent days, due largely to a lawsuit filed by the media mogul's former girlfriend, Manuela Herzer, alleging Redstone is in fragile mental and physical health. …
