Some things are a little difficult to come by, such as, French content software. We don't know how many times we've heard the statement "I can't seem to get my hands on French software". Well, it's a pretty accurate statement until you find someone with a keen interest to research it. In doing so, we have compiled a library of titles to curb the frustration of coming up empty-handed.

Most of us are familiar with English educational programs available through The Learning Company, Edmark, and Davidson. Several of them are now available in French through several distributors offering French content products; Dil, Logisoft and Edusoft to name a few.

Most people are familiar with the Reader Rabbit series. They are better known as "Lapin Malin et ses amis" in French. Several titles are available in this series. Two in the collection are the "Let's Start to Learn Series" known as "Commencons a Apprendre" or "Commencons a Calculer". These two programs are considered appropriate for pre-K through to grades I and cover many curriculum areas including language arts and math. The programs are designed to be very user friendly making them easy to integrate into your classroom.

Children will have fun learning with Reader Rabbit through animation, music and song in French. Reader Rabbit accompanies the young student through the program teaching of ABC's, numbers, colours, shapes etc. Children can navigate their way through the many different activities without the assistance of an adult, allowing them a sense of accomplishment and independence. The programs range in price from $39.95 to $59.95.

Another collection of translated French language software that has made its mark is "Magic Tales", which in French translates to "Les Contes Magique". This product contains three stories, "Baba Yaga et les Oies Magique", "Le Petit Samouri", and "Imo & Ori". These stories take students through Russian traditions, Japan and the mysteries of Africa. The 500 click-on items encourage children to be curious and enjoy reading. This trio is well priced at $39.95 for the French version.
