Thanks again to the staff of the oldest continual running jazz club in the United States (The Deer Head Inn) and also to Richard Burton of Vectordisc for another in the series of "Live at the Deer Head". This time we have a nice mix of musicians who with the exception of Ron Thomas have known each other for years both personally and musically. Ron fits into this mold beautifully on the three tracks he is present and even provided one composition, "The Red Carpet" that can be also found on his own disc reviewed in this issue.

"Sweet" Sue Terry, a native of Hartford CT, was initially mentored by Jackie McLean while attending high school in her home town. He encouraged her to move to New York City where she then mentored under Junior Cook, Barry Harris and Clifford Jordan. It was that trio who also coined the name "Sweet" to go with her name. …
