The Richmond (Va.) community showed its support for parks and recreation with a March for Parks on June 21. Not only did community members get great exercise and wonderful exposure to Richmond, but the event also helped draw attention to the many benefits parks bring to the community. Here are their "Top Ten Reasons to Love Richmond's Parks."

* Parks bring areas of serenity into our lives.

* Parks add natural beauty to our surroundings.

* Parks provide opportunities for relaxation and play.

* Parks provide opportunities for healthy exercise.

* Parks help moderate temperatures in urban areas.

* Parks provide a natural habitat for plants and animals.

* Parks help restore our environment through the oxygenation of plants.

* Parks provide opportunities for environmental education and interaction with nature.

* Parks provide opportunities for family and social fun.

* Parks help keep our ecosystems in balance.
