OCLC announced that Barbara Preece joined its board of trustees for a 4-year term. She is the director of the Loyola Notre Dame Library. Previously, she was dean of the library at California State University-San Marcos, executive director of the Boston Library Consortium, interim associate dean of technical and automated services at southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and head of technical and automated services at the Shawnee Library System in Illinois. Preece also serves on the board of directors of NISO (National Information Standards Organization).

Columbia University Libraries/ Information Services announced several staff appointments: Ian Beilin, Nicholas Buonincontri, Melissa Goertzen, Melissa Gomez, Irina Kandarasheva, David Olson, Ann Thornton, Annie Tummino, and Hunter Whaley. Beilin is the research collections and services librarian in the Humanities and History Libraries. Buonincontri is a senior technical specialist at the Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning. Goertzen is the new collection development analyst and support librarian.
