When It came to picking a host for this year's Critics Choice Awards, which combine the worlds of film and television for the first time, the crix went for a recent Critics Choice award winner: T.J. Miller.

The co-star of HBO*s "Silicon Valley" doesn't have much hosting experience, but he is familiar with theCCAs.

"We always want to have a funny host, and there Isn't a funnier comedian out there right now than T.J.," says BFCA co-founder Joey Berlin. "He was fabulous at the show last year when he won for best supporting actor in a comedy, and delivered one of the evening's highlights with his acceptance speech. That's when we first had the idea of him hosting."

The opportunity came up rather quickly, since the small-screen awards - traditionally given out in the summer at the end of the annual TV season - were recently moved up to coincide with the film awards. …
