Dear NCEA Members,

January is a time of beginnings, and beginnings always seem to imply a fresh start. I am pleased to begin this year with my own new opportunity - to lead NCEA in its work to lead, learn and proclaim, to serve and meet the needs of you, our members.

I am grateful to Bishop Murry and the NCEA Board of Directors for the appointment as interim president of NCEA and in addition to this role, I also continue to serve as Secretary for Education for the Archdiocese of Washington where I have worked for 20 years. I serve in Catholic school education because, quite simply, I believe in the mission of forming faith-filled disciples, and know that Catholic schools are a privileged place to encounter the Lord. This is especially important in today's world which all too often is missing a faith element

The team I am joining at NCEA has been busy implementing the new vision of NCEA, engaging in planning, and developing initiatives for the months ahead. One of the first you will see is our new website, scheduled to be launched this spring. It has been designed with members in mind to be a helpful vehicle for resources and sharing ideas. I am confident that it will be the beginning of enhanced communication between and among our members as a platform for Catholic school educators to share ideas and access resources. …
