Relativity Claims $100 Million Investment

With a Feb. 1 deadline for confirmation of its reorg looming, bankrupt Relativity Media announced $100 million in new investment, including funds from parties that had lost by betting on Ryan Karnaugh's company before. Macquarie Bank and VII Peaks Capital were among previous investors that Relativity said had offered new coin, though the company declined to say whether the money was new cash, or conversion of old debt. Others reportedly signing on: Kavanaugh, investor Joseph Nicholas, TomorrowVentures, Carat Global and Carey Metz, chief investment officer of Atoms Investment Management. Relativity also said it has new lenders for operations and new film releases.

Spotify Adds Video Streaming

Spotify will start to add videos from publishers including ABC, Conde Nast, TBS, Fusion, Comedy Central and Maker Studios. Spotify execs have been frank about the reason for adding video: It's a way to retain users without having to pay the high royalty rates associated with streaming music. …
