Gala Gathers Celebs for Common Cause: Making a Difference

On feb. 25, unite4:good and Variety will host their third annual unite4:humanity gala at the Montage in Beverly Hills. The event honors entertainment leaders for their charitable endeavors while also raising funds and awareness for domore4:good, a global philanthropic effort aimed at inspiring charitable deeds, acts of kindness and positivity on an international scale.

Founded by pharmaceutical exec-turned-philanthropist Anthony Melikhov in 2013, the movement creates and funds programs that exemplify this initiative.

It might all sound pie-in-the-sky, but on-theground results have made a measurable impact.

"We've spent the last few years creating programs in high schools around the country that educate and motivate students to get involved in their communities through unique volunteering opportunities," Melikhov says. "Our high school programs can start with just a few thousand dollars per school, and we're hoping to be able to go wide across the U.S. after the event."

In the months since last year's gala, unite4:good has launched its own online platform, u4g.com.

"We are excited to launch the new Variety community on our platform to really highlight the good work of these inspirational Hollywood leaders in a way that will connect them to the public long term," Melikhov says. …
