The blues-rocker pulls double duty here, producing a record that sounds as good as anything she did in the 70s and early '80s.

Stripped-down, bare and raw, Dig in Deep's sound is the antithesis of her biggest-selling albums, 1989's Nick of Time and the follow-up, Longing In Their Hearts. The sparseness of the production on her 17th studio album highlights three things: Raitt's amazing guitar skills, her writing and her voice-which, after 66 years, is in remarkably good shape.
