GOING STRAIGHT

£3m deal boosts prison education

Prisoners in Northern Ireland are to be offered new education and training opportunities under a £3m deal with Belfast Metropolitan College and North West Regional College. Literacy, numeracy and vocational courses will be offered at the province's three prisons, creating 33 jobs. Justice Minister David Ford said the aim is to reduce reoffending: "This partnership will help to build the skills and give recognised qualifications that will increase the opportunities for employment."
