CIPFA accolade for finance minister

Welsh finance minister Jane Hutt has become an honorary CIPFA member in recognition of her work in bringing financial and devolutionary reforms to Wales. Hutt said she was honoured to become a member of the institute and CIPFA chief executive Rob Whiteman said the accolade was richly deserved. "Jane is an outstanding public servant who has driven forward a series of major reforms to secure more financial powers for Wales and strengthen the Welsh economy," he said.


Spreading support for NI students

Consultation is under way in Northern Ireland on increasing the frequency of support payments made to fulltime undergraduates. Students now receive cash three times a year, but switching to monthly payments is being proposed, either in 12 equal instalments or frontloaded in September and suspended over the summer, as in Scotland. …
