"Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?"

That is the question that UK voters will answer in late June when the British government holds a referendum on the United Kingdom's membership in the European Union.

Universities in the United Kingdom have come out in support of remaining in the European Union, with more than 100 vice chancellors drafting an open letter published in the Sunday Times urging the public to vote for continued EU membership. The letter states that EU membership has a positive effect on UK universities, and allows for more collaboration and efficiency.

"Inside the EU we are better able to collaborate with partners across Europe to carry out cutting-edge research, from medical and healthcare advances to new materials, products and services," said the letter. …
