China and India will continue to be the top sending countries of international students in 2025, according to a report released by the British Council in cooperation with Oxford Economics.

Nigeria, Germany, and Saudi Arabia are predicted to follow behind China and India as top suppliers of foreign students. France, Turkey, South Korea, and Pakistan are also anticipated to send large numbers of students abroad according to the report, The Shape of International Education in 2025, which bases its findings on household wealth and population projections.

The report notes that by 2025, India will have the largest 18- to 22-year-old population, followed by China, Indonesia, and Nigeria.

"It is exciting to see new confidence and predicted growth in several emerging nations where demographics, an aspirational middle class, and fluency in English or a European language are working in tandem," said Rebecca Hughes, director of education at the British Council. …
