Starry Property Has Potential

A house on property behind the BevHills Hotel first developed by Buster Keaton has come up for sale for the first time in 60 years. The historic estate was once owned by Cary Grant before being subdivided into three lots by a later owner, movie star James Mason. Listed by Berkshire Hathaway, the 3,000-square-foot, four-bedroom home that now stands on the property was built in 1954 and has a price tag of $8.8 million. The house, owned by Lillian Portnoy, who once dated Elvis Presley, has hardly been touched since the 1960s. Though the Sputnik-style chandeliers are sure to be coveted by any buyer, the wall-to-wall carpets and indoor palm-tree planters will need to be part of a total redo. PAT SAPERSTEIN
