More than 500 college students across the U.S. participated in the 2016 SHRM Case Competition and Career Summits held in Atlanta, Omaha and Salt Lake City earlier this year.

The gatherings allowed students to take part in case-study competitions, learn from educational speakers and network with HR professionals.

In the case-study contest, students competed to resolve an HR or workplace issue. Team members were required to demonstrate strategic thinking, ethical decisionmaking, and strong leadership and presentation skills.

"The competition was strong at each of the three case competitions, and all of the participating student teams are to be commended for their achievements onsite," said Susan Post, SHRM-SCP, who coordinates SHRM's Student Programs at the national level.

"Overall, these students did an outstanding job of showcasing their knowledge, skills and talents, making the future look bright indeed for the next generation of HR professionals, " she said. …
