Thieme Chemistry announced the Best Paper Awards for its synthetic organic chemistry journals Synthesis and Synlett. The Synthesis Best Paper Award goes to Laurent Evanno, Erwan Poupon, and their research group from the University of Paris-Sud. The Synlett Best Paper Award goes to the University of Mtinster's Frank Glorius and his team. The winners will receive euro3,000 (about $3,400) and a certificate.

* Mun Dae Kim, project research fellow at the Korea Institute for Advanced Study, received Springer's Howard E. Brandt Best Paper Award for "Ultrastrong Coupling in a Scalable Design for Circuit QED With Superconducting Flux Qubits." The prize is $500.
