And he beats his chest for the desolation

And he thrums the string, it snaps at its prime

And he is still as the echo

And like it lies in wait

He shudders to the song for the Sabbath Bride.

You are sole as the shadow

You are false as the stream

You stray to all, all at your whim

You are sweet as the night

You are lithe as the lioness

You ooze like a river in the torrid wind.

And he burns like the heart

And he is smitten like the eye

Aflame, he lights the candle of the soul

And he is burdened as the back

And he is heavy as the wine

To the song of flesh and blood he reels.

You are sole as the shadow

You are false as the stream

You will light it all, all at your whim

You are shrouded as the night

You devour like the lioness

You lust like a river in the searing wind.

And he is beaten as the heart

And he recoils like the eye

Shackled like a beast, he is flogged with reins

And he bleeds like the back

And he wails like the wine

He is stretched across the altar's flames. …
