'Pete's Dragon' Premiere

EL CAPITAN THEATRE, HOLLYWOOD, AUG. 8

Nostalgia for the 1977 original dominated Disney's world premiere of the remake of "Pete's Dragon," where families partied with stuffed animals and snacks. "It was one of my favorite movies growing up," said Bryce Dallas Howard. Director David Lowery noted that the remake "stayed true to its roots."

'Sausage Party' Premiere

REGENCY VILLAGE THEATRE, WESTWOOD, AUG. 9

Guests enjoyed freshly grilled sausages and a dancing hot dog before Seth Rogen and the cast entered through a grocery aisle-styled carpet, replete with food and cash registers. "We still can't believe our good fortune to get a cast like we got," said co-director Greg Tiernan. "It was a director's dream."

CBS, Showtime, and The CW's annual Television Critics Assn. summer fete facilitated TV reunions, from "Friends" alums Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry to "ER" vets Maura Tierney and Mekhi Phifer. Guests chowed down on pizza, fried chicken and waffles, while sipping artisanal margaritas.

'Hell or High Water' Premiere

ARCLIGHT HOLLYWOOD, L.A., AUG. 10

"It's about the failure of men to be intimate and vulnerable when they desperately want to be," said Chris Pine of his new modern-day Western. Stars Ben Foster, Jeff Bridges, Gil Birmingham, and director David Mackenzie also attended the premiere, which laid out a plentiful spread of fried appetizers.
