Connecticut: 'Ban-the-Box' Legislation Approved

A new Connecticut "ban-the-box" law will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2017. It will prohibit employers from asking on a job application about an applicant's arrest record, criminal charges or convictions, although questions about a candidate's criminal history are permitted during interviews. The statute will apply to nearly all businesses in the state, since it broadly defines employers as those with one or more employee.


Colorado: State EmploymentVerification Requirement Repealed

Colorado employers no longer COhave to complete and retain additional state employment-verification documents for new hires related to the Form I-9, the federal Employment Eligibility Verification.
