OK, I have a confession: I have a mad crush on Michelle Obama.

I never met Nancy Reagan or Laura Bush, but I can't for the life of me picture either of them singing "Get Ur Freak On" while riding in a car with James Corden, or doing a potato-sack race with Jimmy Fallon.

Michelle Obama is fun-loving, down-to-earth, and, in her own words, "not afraid to be a little silly." At times she's irreverent. You gotta love a first lady with a wicked sense of humor. Of course she takes her role seriously. But she doesn't let it define her. "I view myself as being the average woman," she told senior editor Ted Johnson. "While I'm the first lady, I wasn't the first lady my whole life."

It was abundantly clear during the interview that she's not your traditional first lady. "I am not so formal in this role," she acknowledged.

I love that she's a rabid fan of movies, TV shows, and music - an unapologetic consumer and product of pop culture. She digs Beyoncé and Rihanna and sometimes binge watches "Orange Is the New Black" and "The Americans." She told me that "The Devil Wears Prada" and "It's a Wonderful Life" are among her all-time favorite movies. …
