Ohio: Zero-Tolerance Policies Unchanged by Marijuana Law

The use of marijuana to treat certain illnesses will soon be legal under Ohio law, but employers still have the right to maintain zero-tolerance policies regarding medical marijuana in the workplace. The new law doesn't require businesses to accommodate any employee use of medical marijuana, and workers have no right to sue their employer because of such a policy.

Arizona: Legislature Joins Independent-Contractor Debate

Arizona has made it a little easier to prove that a worker is an independent contractor rather than an employee.

A new law allows employers to ask workers to sign a declaration stating that they are independent contractors; the declaration includes certain key information about their work relationship with the hiring company.
