Twelve winners in the third and final round of the Library of Congress/Ameritech Digital Library Competition have been announced:

Lee Library at Brigham Young University, University of Utah, Utah State University, and the Utah State Historical Society were awarded $64,875 for "Pioneer Trails: Overland to Utah and the Pacific." Michigan State University and Central Michigan University were given $123,763 for "Shaping the Values of Youth: A Nineteenth Century American Sunday School Book Collection." The Mystic Seaport Museum was granted $57,218 for "Maritime Westward Expansion." The Bancroft Library at the University of California-Berkeley and the California Historical Society have received $150,000 for "Chinese in California: 1850-1920." University of Chicago Library and the Filson Club Historical Society of Louisville, Kentucky, were awarded $145,596 for "The First American West: The Ohio River Valley,1750-1820." University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill was awarded $74,513 for "The Church in the Southern Black Community: Beginnings to 1920."
