If you're training true triple threats, look no further than Onstage New York, the sibling company of New York City Dance Alliance. Heading into its 13th season, the organization continues to expand each year. The competition includes dance, vocal and combined songand-dance categories. So while it's perfect for all dancers, it's especially great for performers who hope to hone their musical theater skills. "This year we're heading back to the beach for our Hilton Head 2017 Nationals," says managing director Leah Brandon. "It's always an Onstage New York family favorite." The competition features both Primary and Advanced divisions, catering to dancers with a wide range of technical experience. And though the organization Is always growing, Onstage New York remains committed to each dancer's artistic growth. It's clear the judges and faculty members care deeply about students-in fact, they've all been in their shoes: Most Onstage New York judges come from a competition background themselves, and many have professional experience. They know what it takes to make it. As executive director Joe Lanteri says, "We carefully select qualified and knowledgeable industry professionals who offer insightful and valuable critiques." And they'll get up onstage themselves: While awards are being calculated, many of the judges perform in Spotlight Performances.
