1955-2016

The award-winning TjjJ television journalist rtOÄh Gwen Ifill died Nov. 14 in Washington, D.C. She was 61. Ifill, who was born in New York, started her career as a journalist at the Baltimore Evening Sun, and went on to report for The Washington Post and The New York Times. In 1999, she became the moderator for the PBS show "Washington Week in Review," and in 2013, she and Judy Woodruff were named co-anchors and co-managing editors of "PBS NewsHour." Ifill moderated vice-presidential debates in 2004 and 2008, and she and Woodruff moderated a Democratic debate between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders this past February.
