Lisa Hilton is a native Californian who still resides in that state. This album, however, was made in NYC with sidemen of the NYC area. Ms. Hilton studied at UCLA where she also learned composition. She started on the piano at the age of 6. Her influences in jazz are primarily Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis and Horace Silver. She has been active in jazz since 1997, her prior interests were in modern classical music. Hilton's compositions reflect this with a post bop influence resulting in a highly personal touch with a great deal of impressionism. All but two selections on this disc are her original writings.

Terell Stafford is well known in the Philadelphia and New York City scene. He has made many recordings as a leader as well as a sideman for the past several decades. Terell is a graduate of Rutgers University. He is now associated with Temple University as Director of Jazz Studies. This 50 year old trumpet genius also is involved with the Lincoln Center's "Essentially Ellington Program" as well as the Juilliard School of music. J.D. Allen has been on the jazz scene in New York City all his professionally life but has gone on tour to many places. …
