Veteran network execs step down in droves

Will the last ad-sales chief to leave please turn out the lights?

Geri Wang, who has led ad sales for ABC since 2010, has sold everything from "Modern Family" to "Grey's Anatomy" to Madison Avenue perennials looking for the next big TV show to help hawk soup, soda, and smartphones. Now she's among the latest of the big ad-sales executives to step down from her post.

Over the course of 2016, several salespeople have orchestrated their departures. Joe Abruzzese, who has been in the trenches for decades, just wrapped up as Discovery Communications' ad-sales chief. Jeff Lucas, formerly of Viacom, decamped to Snap Inc. Arlene Manos, who built ad sales at AMC Networks, has ceded her day-to-day duties to others.
