James A. Wood, 90 years old, of Concord, N.H., October 16, 2016. Born on Nantucket Island February 8, 1926, he studied at the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, Mass., majoring in organ with E. Power Biggs and George Faxon, and choral conducting with Sarah Caldwell. During World War II he served as an Army medic in Europe. After the war he continued his studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and Trinity College in London, where he received his degree. Wood served as music director at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Nashua, N.H., for 23 years, and at St. Paul's Church, Concord, N.H., from 1970 until his retirement. In 1956 he joined the faculty of St. Paul's School in Concord, and became music department head and chapel music director in 1970. In 1955, he and his colleagues founded the Actorsingers of Nashua, a community group of vocalists and actors producing musicals and operettas. …
