Regrettably I had to miss the Poulenc Violin Sonata, which opened this Wigmore Hall concert given by the prize winning violinist, Nikita Boriso-Glebsky and his partner, the pianist, Kasparas Uinskas. It had promised to be an adventurous beginning. More so than the following Suite from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet, (arr. by Lidia Balch and Matthias Fletzberger), which frankly I could hear any decent violinist In a top London orchestra play In their sleep.

After the Interval, the little Romance after In das Fürstin by Wagner was better suited to the role of an encore slot rather than being In a full-blown part of an Important concert.

Only the Elgar Sonata, therefore, really caught my attention. BorisoGlebsky won the Sibelius Violin competition In 2010. And no wonder as he has all the credentials demanded by a jury; a clean cut style, Impeccable Intonation and an excellent technique for projecting his thoughts to an audience. …
