THE WYRD SISTERS: INSIDE THE DREAMING.

The voices and harmonies of The Wyrd Sisters are stronger and more stirring than ever. With the release of Inside The Dreaming, the original folk trio from Winnipeg has created a solid and balanced recording. In their collection of 11 tunes, The Wyrd Sisters lament the clear cut logging in Clayoquot Sound, tally up the nuclear bombs in the world, forgive old lovers, and honour the strength of the warrior in women. The message, whether playful or alarming, is delivered in their usual provocative and unique style.

The album's production is clean; the musicianship first rate. Producer Don Benedictson focuses on texture and colour, contributing his own mercurial fretless bass playing. Intentionally assigning each melody, harmony and instrument a specific role, he weaves a unifying tapestry throughout the recording. The result is a rich blending of the harmonies the Wyrd Sisters are known for, and the crisp, pure sound of first class musicianship.

The Wyrd Sisters are Kim Baryluk, Nancy Reinhold and Lianne Fournier. The trio begins Inside The Dreaming with the title song, creating a feeling as if a curtain is drawn open on a warm room. Suggesting we, "Take a step outside the life you think you have, Take a look beyond your heartbeat," The Wyrd Sisters remind us that we are a part of the cause of what happens to us and we play a role in the result. The song requests we ease up on ourselves, come out of isolation and seize the goodness in our lives. "Release the fist, give yourself a second chance." It's a strong opening to an album that is full of self-respect, forgiveness, humour and resolution. …
