The Improved Construction Practices Gommittee (ICPC) is a standing committee of NACM. The committee consists of financial executives from 25 member firms who are committed to the improvement of credit and financial practices in the construction industry and laws governing such practices.

Efforts toward this goal are made through articles in Business Credit and bulletins and newsletters addressed to NACM affiliated associations and membership. When necessary, the committee makes recommendations to the NACM Board of Directors on legislation affecting the construction industry. The committee also maintains a continuing effort toward the establishment of state-level construction industry practices committees.

The committee meets three times per year in conjunction with the NACM National Construction Group. Contributing to the membership are liaisons from the American Subcontractors Association, Surety Association of America, American Insurance Association, and the NACM Board.

Three primary subcommittees exist: State Legislation, Federal Legislation, and Special Committees. Special committees cover education, publicity, resolutions, and membership.

An example of what the subcommittees are doing can be found in the ongoing effort to monitor legislation in each state that affects both residential and commercial mechanics lien and surety bond laws. …
