Born and raised in a farming and ranching family in the Yellowstone River Valley near Billings, MT, Tracy Linder uses sculpture to deliver a poignant message about the demise of America's farming culture. Her striking sculptural installations and mixed-- media artworks bear witness to the rise of agribusiness and the severing of ties to the land. "I grew up understanding relationships between people, machines, animals, and crops where the daily routines become nearly ritualistic, with their implications of hope, faith, and fortune," says Linder, who has master's degrees in sculpture from Eastern Illinois University and the University of Colorado.
