JSTOR Completes Phase I Production of Database

JSTOR has announced the completion of the digital conversion of all journal titles in its Phase I database-a total of 117 titles and more than 4.5 million pages. The database even includes 17 more titles than were first promised to participating institutions. No changes in fees have been imposed for the additional content.

"We are extremely pleased to have exceeded our original commitment to our library participants," said Kevin M. Guthrie, president of JSTOR. "Many of JSTOR's participating libraries supported us when this database was little more than an idea. We are happy to be able to reward them by providing more than projected, ahead of schedule. Successes like this one have helped to inspire us over the past year as we continue to fulfill our mission to serve as a trusted archive of important scholarly literature in electronic form."
