IAC Integrates Index and ASAP Online Databases on DIALOG

In order to make searching more convenient for users of Information Access Company databases on the DIALOG system, IAC will integrate its Index arid ASAP companion files into single files that are full-text searchable and updated daily.

The integration will take place in three stages. In February, Computer ASAP, File 675, was merged into Computer Database, File 275. Trade & Industry ASAP, File 648, was to follow in March and be merged into File 148 under the new name of Trade & Industry Database. And in April, Magazine ASAP, File 647, will be merged into File 47 and given the new name, Magazine Database.

Regarding the integration of the Index and ASAP databases, Cindy Larson, vice president of Online Sales and Marketing, Corporate Division, said, "IAC's goal has always been to better serve the needs of its online customers. Since DIALOG searchers have requested the Index/ASAP integration, IAC, in partnership with Knight-Ridder Information, Inc., is moving forward to meet key user requirements by expanding and enhancing the searchability of IAC's primary databases on DIALOG."
