Brodart Books has announced the release of the 22nd edition of its acclaimed collection-development tool, The Elementary School Library Collection (ESLC), which is available in both CD-ROM and book formats. Libraries looking for the best choices in print and nonprint materials for children rely on ESLC to help select and prioritize purchases, according to the company.

The CD-ROM gives librarians instant access to thousands of children's titles as well as the dynamic search strategies of an online system. Both versions feature a comprehensive, updated listing of 11,000 of the most highly recommended children's titles and audiovisual products in 14 formats.

According to the company, The Elementary School Library Collection has consistently received excellent reviews because of its superior rating methods. The ESLC advisory committee, a board of children's literature experts, provides guidance and advice regarding selection criteria; trends in children's literature; curriculum and teaching methods; and evaluation, development, and revision of this comprehensive list.

"Our staff of experts reviews approximately 10,000 new items for each edition," said Linda Homa, editor of ESLC. …
