Journalists were arrested and injured while covering the demonstrations against the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C., in April, according to The Associated Press.

Heesoon Yim, an AP free-lance photographer, was struck in the head and knocked unconscious April 16. Yim was photographing protesters who had formed a human chain near the White House when the crowd surged toward a line of police officers.

Yim was struck in the back of the head and was treated at a D.C. hospital for a concussion and a cut on his scalp.

Also on April 16, Ross Simpson, an AP Radio reporter, was clubbed in the back by a police officer in riot gear.

United Press International chief photographer Joel Rennich said he was chased by police and pepper-sprayed in the face April 17 while complying with orders to disperse. Police officers and protesters began scuffling at a street comer, and police pinned some protesters to the ground. …
