Colson Becomes New Editor-in-Chief

Robert H. Colson, PhD, CPA, took the helm as editor-in-chief of The CPA Journal, effective June 19. Colson comes to the Journal from the Financial Executives Institute (FEI), where he was executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Financial Executives Research Foundation. He has also held the positions of professor of accounting, business division chair, and accounting department chair at Daemen College in Amherst, MY An active NYSSCPA member, he has served as Buffalo Chapter director of government relations and director of education.

Colson replaces James L. Craig, Jr., CPA, who had headed the Journal since 1989. Craig's impact on the journal and on the Society has been substantial. During his tenure, the profession and the Society underwent massive changes, and Craig maintained a clear focus and a firm handle throughout. It is worth noting that two of the five initial inductees into the Society's newly established CPA Hall of Fame also held the Journal's top editorial position.

So, this issue marks the beginning of a transition for the journal. Craig's presence will continue to be felt in upcoming issues-for example, his interview with AICPA President Barry Melancon is this month's Millennium Series installment, as the journal continues to explore the connections between the big-picture, visionary issues and the practical. …
