Welcome to the Spring edition of Teaching Business and Economics. This edition focuses not only on teaching issues but also the relationship between the subject and the voider organisation of the school (Specialist Schools) and on the future role of this subject association. We are as always grateful for the high quality of articles submitted.

The first item is a response to a DfES consultation on subject associations from the recently formed Joint Policy Forum for Business Education. It provides an insight into the current and future role of your association, and you may want to consider how you might shape it. Please contact Nancy Wall if you want to discuss this.

Both of the Economics articles provide timely and interesting analysis of issues. The 'update' focuses on the impact of the enlarged KU on the labour market. The classroom article is the first of two pieces investigating the development of the economics curriculum.

The Business Update should prove an accessible classroom resource (for football enthusiasts in particular) as well as an interesting update for the teacher. …
