NFL Honors Volunteers with Community QB Award

The National Football League has announced the creation of the NFL Community Quarterback Award, a volunteer recognition program that will donate nearly $1 million to community organizations served by outstanding volunteers. The new award acknowledges exceptional community leaders in each of the NFL's 31 markets.

Funded by NFL Charities, the NFL Community Quarterback Award recognizes community and youth volunteers who demonstrate leadership, dedication, and a commitment to bettering their communities. The nomination process is fulfilled by charitable organizations that nominate their notable volunteers.

NFL Charities will donate grants to the nonprofit establishments served by the award winners.

Applications for the NFL Community Quarterback Award are available from NFL clubs and other designated nonprofit organizations within the 31 NFL markets.

Each team will select a committee made up of team representatives and media and community leaders to review nominations for their local Community Quarterback Award. Ten finalists, whose nonprofit organizations will receive $1,000 grants, will be announced in mid-October. In November, the two charitable establishments of the runners-up will receive $2,500 grants. The volunteer who is awarded the team Community Quarterback Award will have a $10,000 grant donated in his or her name to the respective charity. …
