On 28 October visitors to The Mariners' Museum attended the opening of an exhibit, "Reflections on the Bay: The Photography of A. Aubrey Bodine." More than 100 striking images and artifacts gives a view through Bodine's lens who captured the beauty and diversity of Chesapeake Bay from 1927 to 1970. In addition to personal artifacts from Bodine's career, the exhibit is drawn from a collection of original photographs donated to the Museum by the Bodine family in 1994.

Bodine was a true son of the Chesapeake. He was born in Baltimore in 1906 and became fascinated with photography as a teenager. By the time he was 21 he was a photographer for the Baltimore Sun where for half a century his work would be featured in the newspaper's Sunday magazine. Bodine focused on human interaction with nature, photographing oystermen, stevedores, the Baltimore skyline, fishermen families, and even the construction of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. …
