The fresh face of the Institute's Web site is powered by advanced applications

Rave reviews greeted the revamped IREM Web site, which debuted March 31. The redesigned site is not only attractive and user-friendly, but behind the scenes it harnesses some of the latest Web technology including:

* State-of-the-art navigation with dynamic menus and breadcrumb mapping. A breadcrumb trail helps visitors track where they are within the site's hierarchy by visualizing a top-to-bottom path through the architecture. This provides an instant graphic reference to the current location. The universal navigation bar appears at the bottom of every page with sections listed horizontally.

* Customized content management keyed to a user's membership type. The Web site recognizes a member's current status (CPM, CPM Candidate, ARM, AMO, Associate or Chapter Administrator) when they log in and offers them expanded content and free or discounted products in IREMFIRST. Users will discover new content and menu options in all sections.

* A system to forward links to friends and colleagues. This function allows visitors to send URLs and encourages members to spread the word about IREM programs and events.

* Real-time database of legislative information. The Public Policy section features up-to-the-minute access to all pending state and federal bills vital to real estate management.

* Printer-friendly pages. Instead of storing duplicate versions of the original content and converting them to one more suitable for print output, cascading style sheets were used to create media-specific styles for each ColdFusion® document on the site. …
