Maryland: TWO PROGRAMS HELP PARENTS

The Maryland Recreation and Parks Association (MRPA) is partnering with other groups to provide programming for parents who want to learn about health, or that want their children to learn healthy living. The iirst program, "Ready for Life" is designed to educate parents, caregivers and the community by giving adults the tools they need to raise children who are socially and emotionally healthy, and ready to succeed in school and life. The workshops will:

* Empower parents with the tools to help children reach their potential;

* Promote to parents the importance of physical activity and how it can help their child grow stronger both physically and mentally;

* Identify a variety of simple and fun "kid activities" that they can use with their child;

* Use the Food Guide Pyramid with parents and share how to prepare food for their children in fun, safe and nutritious ways;

* Exploring methods of developing healthy eating habits for their children. …
