If your goal is to dance in college but you need financial assistance to see it through, strap on your dancing shoes and follow this plan of action.

STEP I : Start at the door of your future college. Many dance departments offer scholarship money, often through auditions and interviews. If you want to add an extracurricular dance activity to your daily schedule, talk to your institution's dance team. Sam Houston State University's Orange Pride, for instance, gives all members who have been on the team for at least one semester and who have earned at least a 2.5 cumulative SHSU grade point average a $1,000 per year scholarship. After the first year, that amount increases by $100 every year.

STEP 2: Compete for your money at dance competitions or workshops. Every year at the Cheerleaders of America Ultimate National Championship in Orlando, FL, dancers on high school, studio or all-star teams compete in solo competitions for $1,000 scholarships. …
