Do YOU TRUST YOUR COworkers with your life? Employees at Tacoma, Washington-based Frank Russell Co. do. What greater example of trust than tethering yourself to your co-workers as you scale the side of a mountain together?

As part of a teamwork training exercise, 23 Frank Russell employees climbed Mt. Rainier over the course of a weekend. "To make a successful climb, you have to be a good team player," says Warren Thompson, Russell associate and team leader. "You literally depend on each other for your life."

Because the climb is such a serious endeavor, participants, including family and

friends of employees, participated in four months of training to prepare for their conquering of Mt. Rainier. The program helped participants increase endurance, grow acclimated to the high altitude and practice team-building exercises, such as rescue attempts and team motivation techniques.

Team members who participated in the climb spanned several departments at Russell and included men and women from their early 20s to late 50s. …
