Wouldn't we all like our children to deal effectively with stress, cope with everyday challenges, bounce back from adversity, solve problems, relate comfortably with peers and adults and treat themselves and others with respect? In other words, wouldn't we like to learn how to raise resilient children who meet life's challenges with thoughtfulness, confidence, purpose and empathy?

Two well-known psychologists and child development specialists, one on the faculty at Harvard and the other at the University of Utah, have written a remarkable book that pulls together the research on resilience and makes it readable, understandable and practical.
