The 'Studies in Economics and Business' series claims to provide "readable in-depth studies written to support AS, A Level and other courses requiring the study of economics and business topics".

Certainly the series has been extended to include some of the new AS / A2 options such as the Economics of Leisure, and each title claims to provide 'up to date coverage of core topics on current syllabuses'. Other titles in the series, mostly well-known, include Development Economics, Economic Growth and Business Cycles, Green Economics, Inflation and UK Monetary Policy, The UK in a Global Context, Supply Side Policies and UK Current Economic Policy.

The author - Stephen Munday - is the Principal Examiner for the AS Market Failure and Government Intervention paper and the book is written with the OCR specification in mind. It contains all of the main features of the corresponding module from all three of the English exam boards. However, it analyses the benefits of competition in too much depth for the Edexcel unit 2 in this area. It concentrates on the environment and health care as its two main examples, omitting education which is included in the Edexcel specification.
