Inmagic DB/TextWorks Database Software: Library Automation Software for Windows-Based PCs and Networks

Article excerpt

Inmagic, Inc. of Wobum, Massachusetts, has announced Inmagic DB/TextWorks, library automation software for Windows-based PCs and networks. DB/TextWorks is a special type of database software featuring unlimited-length fields, instantaneous search speeds, "relational-like" database linking, integrated image management, full-text import, and a WYSIWYG drag-and-drop report writer. Single-user DB/TextWorks will be offered for $795.

A report writer featuring drag-and-drop layout is another highlight of DB/TextWorks. Using the mouse or pull-down menus, users size, label, and position boxes containing report elements. Format options include color, font, bolding, and others. Report designs can be previewed onscreen before printing.

Color, grayscale, and black-and-white image management is included in DB/TextWorks at no additional cost. Over 30 image file formats are supported, including TIFF (G3 and G4), PCX, JPEG, BMP, and TGA.

"One of the main reasons people choose INMAGIC Plus, our DOS product, is its flexibility compared to hardwired systems:' said Inmagic, Inc. President Phillip L. Green. "It's particularly important for special libraries, where no two have the same needs; people need to be able to customize to their exact specifications. …
