From publishers to lasers, furniture to technology training, more than 200 companies, representing myriad industries, traveled to Las Vegas to showcase their products and services at ACTE's 2004 Career Tech Expo.

For three days, the Career Tech Expo was packed not only with attendees, but also with certification sessions, exhibitor workshops, and hands-on demonstrations.

For the first time, ACTE, along with Global Skills X-change (GSX), added certification sessions to the Career Tech Expo schedule. These sessions were designed to help career and technical educators align their programs and curriculum with industry and trade certifications, and select and implement trade certifications that are appropriate for their students. In Las Vegas, there were 10 sessions, including ones on culinary and electronic technician certification, criteria for choosing certifications, and selecting and implementing industry-based certifications. Due to its popularity, ACTE and GSX will be bringing this program to next year's Convention in New Orleans.

Exhibitors also got into the mix by show-casing their hottest and newest products during the Exhibitor Workshops. Attendees learned about mind mapping, Web design, and how to create video tutorials. …
